The annual design exhibition Emerging Design Talents 2016: POETRY of HKDI and IVE (Lee Wai Lee) will take place from 16-26 June, showcasing students designs to the general public. At the same time, several collaboration projects will be held between HKDI and the design industry, which are not only good platforms for the industry to exchange and communicate, but also can help the young design talents to understand the opportunities in the creative industry.

Emerging Design Talents 2016: POETRY

Emerging Design Talents 2016: POETRY offers a platform for creative students to showcase the best of their work. It is an inspiration to both students and the audience to reflect on the relationship between Poetry, Technology and Thoughts. Supported by the advancement of technology, students’ imaginations can come true in a poetic way. Efforts poured into the works shone through expressing the young designers’ talents and thoughts. A fine selection of student works from various design disciplines will be presented at the exhibition. A variety of design shows will also be held and are open for RSVP.

Over the Ocean, On the Road: A Multimedia Exhibition by Leong Ka Tai

Embark on a nautical journey across the Pacific Ocean with acclaimed Hong Kong photographer Leong Ka Tai. HKDI Gallery presents Leong’s photographic work and videos from his adventurous five-month voyage with a specially created interactive installation. An exhibition invite viewers to rethink the notions of communication, connection and travelling.

2016 HKDITALKx: Opportunities of Hong Kong Films and TV

HKDI is organising a series of talk titled 2016 HKDITALKx: Opportunities of Hong Kong Films and TV. Through several dialogues among the local professional practitioners from the field of films and TV, it aims to promote the local creative industry and encourage the young creative talents. The second talk will be conducted by Mr. Lofai Lo, the General Manager of Hong Kong Television Entertainment Company, to share his insights and experiences.

HKDI Presents World Interiors Day – Interiors Intelligence

HKDI is hosting a programme World Interiors Day - Interiors Intelligence, reflecting the theme of this year’s World Interiors Day this May. The series of master lectures will include a line-up of speakers that are also celebrated masters of their trade, including Steve Leung, Tino Kwan, James Law and Joey Ho. The design workshop titled Realization of Space will be led and guided by HKDI outstanding Alumni, Tenniel Tsang of Interior Design. You are welcome to join freely on 28 May.

Bowls in Style Workshop and Exhibition
29 Jun – 26 Sep 2016 | Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre
vA! collaborates with HKDI in organising Bowls in Style, a local culture cum ceramics design workshop. With the distinctive local cultures of 18 districts in Hong Kong as the theme, 30 HKDI students transformed these local characteristics into innovative design elements and rendered their ideas on bowls and create ‘Hong Kong-style' ceramics, blending design and ceramics with local culture. After the workshop, students’ works will be displayed in the public area during the ‘Muse Fest HK’ from June 29th to September 26th.

| 2016 Finale – Fashion Image Design and Modeling Competition |

In the first quarter of 2016, HKDI and the renowned model agency, Models International, co-organised the Fashion Model Training and Grooming, which is the first modeling course rated at Level 4 of Hong Kong Qualifications Framework. On 13 May 2016, the Fashion Image Design and Modeling Competition, 2016 Finale, was held at HKDI. The first batch of 10 graduating models paired with the Higher Diploma students of Fashion Image Design demonstrated their unique styling on stage. Led by the famous model, Eunis Chan, and the modeling tutor, Rosa Tsang, the 10 models competed with each other in terms of catwalk skills, on-stage pose, acting and etc. The awards were judged by an esteemed panel of industry leaders and professionals, including Sophia (琦琦), Lisa.S, William Tang, April Lau, Christine Ho and Tianyo Ma. Denise Yiu won the Most Welcomed Award voted by the audiences and also the Champion. |
