60 61 Department of Architecture, Interior and Product Design Department of Architecture, Interior and Product Design PROGRAMME AIMS This programme is purposely developed and designed to focus on furniture and lifestyle product design. Students will be guided to explore masterpieces by modern masters and the worldwide trend of furniture and lifestyle products, from the past to the present era. Design projects will be emphasised on integration of living style, furniture and lifestyle design objects to achieve a total design outcome. PROFESSIONAL CORE MODULES • Branding and Design of Furniture and Lifestyle Product • Contemporary Trend and Style of Living Space Design • Furniture Design • Furniture Workshop • Interior Product Design CAREER PROSPECTS With the steady growth in property market and economy of Hong Kong recently, there has been a tremendous need for better interior furniture and lifestyle products to suit various urban and modernised living spaces, including household space in residential buildings, working space in commercial buildings and other recreational spaces like trendy restaurants and boutique hotels. The market simply demands for variety in home furniture, office system furniture, designer furniture and other related interior lifestyle products. In this connection, graduates can work in furniture production companies, lifestyle product design companies, furniture brand shops and other furniture retail business. Alternatively, they may work in interior design firms specialised in living space and furniture design. ARTICULATION TO UNIVERSITY Graduates can pursue relevant degrees locally or overseas. The level of exemption will be considered on an individual basis. ARCHITECTURE, INTERIOR AND PRODUCT DESIGN PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION Students are eligible to apply for student membership of the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) and the Industrial Designers Society of Hong Kong (IDSHK).
