About the Exhibition
A showcase of over 100 pieces of designs by students of Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD – Genève), one of the major institutions of art and design education in Europe, will demonstrate the latest innovations in jewellery, watch and accessory designs from Switzerland. The exhibition at HKDI will mark the creative and academic partnership between the two institutions.
The Bachelor in Product Design / Jewellery & Accessory at the Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD – Genève) is unique in Switzerland. Stemming from a long-standing tradition in jewellery design education that has nurtured some of the best designers in the world, the programme has broadened its range to encompass products: watches, accessories, leather goods, eyewear, smart products, and office and household objects. Many HEAD graduates now work as creative designers for fashion and accessory brands, as well as jewellery and watch brands. The unprecedented watch design course offers unique teaching in design, marketing, trends and heritage by international experts in the watchmaking industry. The Master of Product Design covers all fields offered by the Bachelor programme.
As one of the major institutions of art and design education in Europe with 700 students from over 40 countries, HEAD – Genève features Bachelor and Master courses of study in visual arts, cinema, graphic design, interior architecture and space design, media and interactive design, and fashion, jewellery, watch and accessory design.
The exhibition presents a selection of recent work by HEAD – Genève students and graduates. The scenography by Juliette Roduit, a HEAD alumna, takes as reference the maritime location of Hong Kong. The exhibits in watch, accessory and jewellery design are showcased as treasures which have travelled across the ocean from the mountains of Switzerland to the ocean-port of Hong Kong.
