HKDI participates in the World Design Summer Camp

2012 is Hong Kong Design Year (HKDY). To further propel the advancement of Hong Kong as the design hub in Asia, a year-long programme with a wide array of signature events, promotional and celebration activities has been prepared for people from all walks of life, especially design students, to participate and enjoy.

One of the major students’ programmes in summer, the World Design Summer Camp (WDSC) was held from June 30 to July 10, 2012. 200 students of design discipline at tertiary level to involve an 11-day summer camp in Hong Kong to have cultural exchange and sharing of views on design.

This camp is unprecedented in Hong Kong’s history, as there will be a mix of cultures because the participants will include 100 local students, as well as 100 Asian, European and American students. This is a rare congregation of fun and exchange between students of design worldwide.

During their stay in Hong Kong, they have the opportunities to have fruitful intellectual and cultural exchanges, as well as sharing first-class design experience with world-class speakers. They also travel around Hong Kong to study local culture first-hand, and to the Pearl River Delta to learn of the industrial, commercial and cultural development of South China.

A Post-Camp Exhibition will be held at HKDI to showcase the learning outcomes of this Summer Camp from 17 July to 28 July.
