D&AD AWARDS 2012 – WINNERS

D&AD (Design and Art Direction) is a British educational charity set up in 1962 to promote excellence in design and advertising. Its iconic Yellow and Black Pencils are awarded to work that is groundbreaking in its field, whether that is TV advertising or a piece of graphic design. The Awards are widely considered the Oscars of the global creative industries.

D&AD Pencils are presented to both students and professional creatives. This exhibition features one hundred selected pieces from both the student and professional Awards.

Part of the prestige of the Awards results from the rarity of the Pencils and the famous rigour of the judging process. Pencils are only awarded to work that is strong enough, so no fixed quantity of Awards is given in a particular year. The work is judged by the very top creative minds from around the world, so anyone who enters D&AD knows that if their work is successful, they are performing at the top of their game.

D&AD produces an Annual every year that features the best work from the Awards. 2012 is the organisation's 50th Anniversary, so the work that appears in the 50th Annual and in this special exhibition offers a window onto a historic moment in design and advertising.
