Exhibitions
In January 2024, HKDI Gallery presents two captivating annual exhibitions: "Ma Yansong: Landscapes in Motion" and "ITALY: A New Collective Landscape." Ma Yansong, a graduate of Yale University, is internationally renowned Chinese architects who has made a significant impact on the world of architecture in recent years. "Ma Yansong: Landscapes in Motion" is his first large-scale solo exhibition in Hong Kong. Not only offering a retrospective of Ma's remarkable works, the exhibition also showcases several upcoming large-scale urban building projects. It reveals Ma's thought-provoking concepts and imaginative vision, as well as provide a glimpse into the future of urban civilisation where urban landscapes, history, and the natural environment coexist harmoniously. On the other hand, "ITALY: A New Collective Landscape" focuses on 100 young Italian designers under the age of 35 through pioneering design projects. It showcases how these young designers are addressing today's global challenges through their practice, while exploring the diversity and feasibility of design. In February, we also present the first exhibition co-organised with the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, titled "Tradition In the Future - GAFA Cultural Innovation Design". This exhibition demonstrates the seamless integration of traditional cultural elements into the field of cultural and creative design. It marks the beginning of a close academic collaboration between the two institutions and provides a foundation for in-depth exchanges and mutual learning among students specialising in design from both regions.
