The Love Affair between Culture, Art and Design
Speaker: Michael Miller Yu

Mr. Yu has won over two hundred local and overseas design awards and was also awarded the Governor¹s Industrial Design Award twice. In 1993, he was appointed to design the brand for the renowned Bangkok Sky Train BTS, and in 2000 appointed by Hong Kong Post to design the official 2000 Olympic Games (Sydney) Special Stamps. In 2005, he was again appointed by the Hong Kong SAR Government to design the logo for the 6th WTO Ministerial Conference held in Hong Kong.

In 2006, Mr. Yu received the Ten Outstanding Designers Awards from the renowned Hong Kong Art & Design Festival. From 2007 to 2010, three of his major projects have won the Outstanding Greater China Design Awards. He served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Outstanding Designers Association from 2012 - 2014.

Speaker: Douglas Young

In 1996, Mr. Young co-founded G.O.D. with Benjamin Lau. The product range consists of contemporary furniture, fashion, homeware, and lifestyle accessories with a Chinese twist. Most of the merchandise is designed in-house by a multi-disciplinary design team led by Mr. Young. The long-term vision of the company is to build a Hong Kong brand that is both forward looking in nature and to proudly display its cultural origins.

Mr. Young will share his personal story of how he and his partner grew G.O.D. from a small retail space in Ap Lei Chau to a well-established, multi-faceted brand, proudly displaying its cultural originals.
