VTC Carnival - "Toy Image DIY Design Competition" Prize Presentation Ceremony and Finalist Works Display

The closing ceremony of VTC 30th Anniversary celebration and VTC Carnival was held at Ma On Shan Sports Ground on 9 December 2012. As one of the 30th Anniversary signature events, the prize presentation ceremony of The "Toy Image DIY Design Competition" had its prize presentation ceremony taken place on the same day. The Guests of Honour, Mr Clement Chen Cheng-jen, Chairman of VTC, and Dr. Raymond Choy, founder and President of TOY2R Limited presented certificates to the winners of the Champion, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up and "My Favourite Qee Image" award. District Council representatives of some of the winning districts also attended the ceremony to show their support. After the prize presentation ceremony, the award winners introduced their own works to the VIP guests on the spot.

Showcasing the local cultural characteristics of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, the 18 Qee bear figures attracted a lot of participants of VTC Carnival to visit and take photos.

The "Toy Image DIY Design Competition" aims to explore potential young design talent and promote the close collaboration between the design industry and the community. Participants were required to express cultural uniqueness of their respective districts through designing the image of a local toy icon “Qee”. Over 580 entries were received and 18 finalists, one from each district was shortlisted by the judging panel consisted of HKDI lecturer, toy designer of Qee and District Councilors, to enter the final round of selection at HKDI.
