HKDI Students Swept Major Awards in the "Hong Kong Heart 2012" Short Video Competition

A group of HKDI students studying Higher Diploma in Film and Television championed the "Hong Kong Heart 2012" Short Video Competition, organised by the International Federation of Creativity and Technology. Meanwhile, two student groups from Film-Fever 2012 Youth Film Maker Scheme jointly organised by the Department of Communication Design and Digital Media of HKDI and HKFYG Continuous Learning Centre attained 2nd Runner-up and Merit Award.

This is the second year of the Youth Film Maker Scheme, aiming to encourage Hong Kong teenagers to pay more attention to the society and current affairs. The title of champion film is “By Pass”, inspired by the tragic death of Wang Yue, a mainland child who remained unrescued on the street in a traffic accident, to explore the topic of human relationship. A group of F.3 to F.7 students took the 2nd Runner-up with a documentary titled “Orange" to illustrate the changing relationship in the neighbourhood of Fa Yuen Street.

In addition, the films of Champion and 2nd runner-up were shortlisted as finalists in the Macau International Movie Festival 2012 (Undergraduate Division), of which the entries have long been works of students from local and overseas renowned universities. Mr. Lam Wai Keung, the course leader felt excited for the students’ remarkable achievements.

The award presentation ceremony were held 8 December at the Inno Design Tech Expo, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre with the Hon. Ma Fung-kwok, SBS, JP, Legislative Member (Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication) as Guest of Honour.
