Master Lecture Series: Context, Character & Process

Speaker: Samuel Wilkinson, UK Product Designer

Samuel Wilkinson will discuss some of his latest and most well-known projects, including the multi-award winning low energy light bulb Plumen 001, and gives insight into the concepts behind each of the designs. He will illustrate his design process from initial sketch, through development to the finished project, as well as comment on the importance of character and context in successful design.

Samuel’s commitment and enthusiasm to designing interesting objects and spaces is apparent in his work. He is always looking to add a fresh dynamic approach in either form or function. His thorough understanding of materials and manufacturing process helps the studio to push the boundaries and achieve detailed craftsmanship in their output. Their work diversifies across various disciplines from consumer products, to interiors to the public realm.
