Master Lecture Series - Hung Keung and his creative practice in interactive Chinese characters

Speaker: Dr. HUNG Keung

Dr. HUNG Keung is a prominent artist in Hong Kong. His creative practice involves working and researching across a range of media, including interactive performance, moving images, photography, experimental ink painting, installation and writing, etc. Alongside his individual practice and research, he also leads a research lab ‘imhk lab’ focusing on new media art and design practice in relation to Chinese philosophy and interaction, which was begun in 2005.

Dr. HUNG has keen interest in exploring the notion of Chinese Philosophy like Daoism. For him, Dao is not merely a philosophical model, but an in-depth world-view and a guiding moral principle of self-discovery and self-revelation. He believes that the notion of Dao can be perceived and practised in everyday life. His works create a dynamic dialogue between time, space, concept, viewers and the artist’s experimentation in the form of digital media art. In this lecture, HUNG will introduce the idea generation process behind his new digital art project series- Catharsis : Real But Not True (淨化: 真實但非真相).
