HKDI Students Swept All Awards at The Hong Kong Regional Heat of The SDC International Design Competition

HKDI Students from the Department of Fashion and Image Design swept all three awards at the Hong Kong Regional Heat of the SDC International Design Competition, organised by The Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC). This competition was organised internationally covering more than 12 countries and areas, including Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and United Kingdom, targeting students studying recongnised fashion/textile design courses at undergraduate level. In the Hong Kong Region Heat, 4 textile/fashion institutions, including the Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA), Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), were invited to participate.
Out of the 97 students who entered the competition, Lai Chung Yan from HKDI was awarded as the champion of the Hong Kong Regional Heat of the International Design Competition in October 2013. She will be invited to India to join the Grand Final competition competing with finalists from other countries on 24th November 2013. Cheong Ching Yee and Diana and Ng Yin Cheung also from HKDI won the 1st Runner-up and the 2nd Runner-up respectively.
