HKDI and IVE (Lee Wai Lee) Students Created Animations for Dunhuang Drawings

Students of HKDI and IVE (Lee Wai Lee) are invited by Hong Kong Heritage Museum to produce the animation of "Dunhuang - Untold Tales, Untold Riches", which will be showcased from 28 November 2014 to 16 March 2015 at Hong Kong Heritage Museum Thematic Galleries 1 to 5. The Dunhuang Caves are home to Buddhist art relics of unparalleled beauty and intricacy as well as a vast repository of cultural information. The collection is known as the "Encyclopaedia of the Middle Ages" and the "Library on the Wall". In addition to introducing the rich and diverse features of Dunhuang's grotto culture, this exhibition also relates how the Dunhuang Caves survived disaster and adversity in the 20th century and were transformed from a remote and deserted ruin to a sanctuary where medieval culture and art can be appreciated and studied. This exhibition is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Dunhuang Academy. Three sets of animation and e-book app among the whole, presenting the Dunhuang drawings in a dynamic and vivid way with unique music, are produced by students of Multimedia from IVE (Lee Wai Lee) and HKDI students of Publication Design and Print Media, Creative Media and Digital Music and Media.
