Welcome to join the Department of Information Technology, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee).

In past few months, the COVID-19 destroyed hundred thousands of human life and a lot of business, academic and social activities, but the Information Technology (IT) demonstrated its irreplaceable role in the current and future human life, and only IT applications can have a significant grow in this critical moment. More and more people realize that IT will shape the future.

The Department currently has over 1,200 students and offers the following Higher Diploma programmes:

• Software Engineering
• Cloud and Data Center Administration
• Computer Games and Animation
• Theme Park and Theatre Creative Technology
• Multimedia, VR and Interactive Technology

We also offer a wide variety of IT programmes such as full-time and part-time BSc honor degree programmes, part-time evening higher diploma programmes, part-time day Earn and Learn higher diploma programme, Diploma of Foundation Studies programme, Applied Learning (ApL) programme and short courses.

The Department has established close collaboration with the industry and our students have involved in many industrial projects. In the past few months, we completed the big projects including the biggest interactive touch screen video wall in the world, HKT next generation smart kiosk, train driving simulator, smart nursery management system for the Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Social Service, etc.

In the past one year, our students continue to have outstanding performance in some international and local open competitions. They won the Amazon AWS DeepRacer League, Amazon AWS Migration Game Day Competition, ACM CHI Play Game Competition in Spain, Global Game Jam Competition, IET: Young Professionals Exhibition and Competition, HKT Smart Kiosk Design Competition, Amazon AWS DeepComposer Chartbusters Bach to the Future Challenge, etc.

The Department is well equipped with advanced computer hardware and software, state-of-the-art equipment and IT infrastructure for our students to expose to up-to-date equipment, technology and techniques. We constantly reviews our programmes and their content to ensure that they are relevant to the current job market in order to maximize the employability of our students upon graduation.
