HKDI Architecture Design Review

The urban pockets surrounding the Pound Lane and the Blake Garden in Sheung Wan are part of a long-time tranquil residential area. The historical neighbourhood has been exposed to intensive re-development from the colonization to current days.

Developing from a careful study that has taken into consideration the urban and social development over time, our students have subsequently been challenged to design a building to house cultural and commercial venues and is responsive to the current spirit of the site.

Considerations on the existing urban fabric interlace with design ambition and reinvention with a concern for the future of Sheung Wan.
