What is the future of Design with the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, big data and automation etc.? Websites such as Tailor Brands can already churn out low cost branding graphics within minutes automatically; Wix can create websites with AI templates generating hundreds of variations of designs at only HK$40 per month; high quality 3D printing will enable anyone to create their own product designs easily and inexpensively. Futurists predicts that 2 billion jobs will be replaced in the next 10 years.
How should Designer’s role evolve? How should design education evolve? What are the skills that are must in the next decade that will allow designers to thrive instead of dive? In this talk, Elaine Ann, Founder/Director of Kaizor Innovation will share her thoughts around Design-Driven Entrepreneurship and skill sets that designers must develop to prepare for the fast changing future.

Companies are being disrupted left and right nowadays by big data, artificial intelligence (AI), automation etc.. Especially Hong Kong companies as its organisations with deep research and development is able to be leaders of the such domain expertise, whereas Hong Kong companies are mostly 98% SMEs and our market is in the middle of China and Western Tech Giants e.g. WeChat, Alibaba, Tencent, Google, Facebook, Amazon etc. For example, Financial companies are moving into digital/mobile; InsurTech companies will no longer need insurance agents; even financial trading will be replaced by AI robots and many middlemen jobs will be cut out by automation.
How can companies compete in the market in the near future when only dominant Tech Giant players can have a playing field? How should organisations prepare to change and upgrade their talent pool? In this talk, Elaine Ann, Founder/Director of Kaizor Innovation will share her thoughts around Design Innovation for Organisational Change to inspire company executives and educators to prepare for the future.
