A smart city is a learning system that utilises technology to collect data and inform various parties to make decisions about improving people's lives. With technology we can better understand where are the specific social, economic, structural, safety, or technology gaps, but can we truly appreciate human needs? Do we look for challenges that everybody has or we solve for specific needs that matter now? Join us in the discussion of these and more critical questions through presenting Design thinking as a vital tool in understanding human needs in smart city development.

Workshop

Conducted by Mr Aaron Tan and Ms Iva Sladic Keco, Founder and Managing Director of WakeMake
Facilitated by Ms Ewelina Tereszczenko, Associate of RAD
19 October 2018
9am-4pm (TBC)
Room A804, HKDI

In a smart city, innovation and value creation comes not only form the government and municipal agencies, but, from the collaborative efforts of various communities, businesses, housing complexes, and individual residents. Smart city ecosystem architects unify the multiple layers to enable and facilitate the broader community in co-creation. We will explore design thinking techniques for turning challenges into opportunities and generating and testing many ideas in a short time in this hands-on workshop.
