HKDI & IVE (Lee Wai Lee) collaborated with design institutions and museums from Sweden, Germany and Switzerland to organise 4 international design exhibitions at the HKDI Gallery, d-mart and Experience Centre this year. The exhibitions feature excellent design works all over the globe, including design projects in graphic, product and advertising fields.

Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, Chief Secretary for Administration, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, Dr. Clement CHEN Cheng-jen, Chairman of VTC, Mrs. Anna BARTELS, Acting Consul General of Consulate, General of the Federal Republic of Germany Hong Kong, Mr. Jörgen HALLDIN, Consul General of Consulate General of Sweden, Mrs. Rita HAMMERLI-WESCHKE, Consul General of Consulate General of Switzerland, Professor. Dr. Peter ZEC, Founder and President of the Red Dot Design Award and Professor Dr. Thomas D. MEIER, President of Zurich University of the Arts officiated the Grand Inaugural of the exhibitions held at Design Boulevard of HKDI and IVE (Lee Wai Lee) on 28 November 2014.

Mrs Carrie LAM, Chief Secretary for Administration, said: “Creativity holds the key to Hong Kong’s development in future. Our creative industries have in recent years grown at a faster pace than the overall economy. We see promising prospects which creative industries hold for young people, not only in terms of job offerings for fresh graduates but also business opportunities for young entrepreneurs. The VTC and its member institutes have certainly made significant contributions in this area by building up the necessary creative human capital through their programmes.”

Dr Clement CHEN, Chairman of VTC said: “Throughout the years, the VTC has been dedicated to contributing to the sustainable development of Hong Kong by building a solid talent pool. We strongly believe the key to nurture creative talents is to inspire and expose our students to various learning opportunities. With the joint effort between our member institution Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and our collaborative partners, I believe it will achieve the objectives of promoting innovation, fostering cross-cultural exchange and widening students’ vision. “

With the vision to inspire tomorrow's creative talents and to promote creative cultures among the general public, HKDI & IVE (Lee Wai Lee) has long been a trailblazer in nurturing creative talents via collaborations with some of the world’s most elite creative circles, as well as organising exhibitions with multiple elements that reach international standard. The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Students from HKDI & IVE (Lee Wai Lee) will lead guided tours to further elaborate the design concepts to the visitors.
