Factory Hong Kong Exhibition

12 Jun 2015

The Factory Hong Kong exhibition, held at Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre from 12 June to 13 September 2015, pays tribute to entrepreneurs and factory workers in the manufacturing industry, whose unfaltering commitment had contributed to Hong Kong’s miraculous economic expansion from the post-war years, while examining the crucial role the industry had played in the process. In addition to some photographs and oral testimonies, students from Higher Diploma in Visual Communication of Hong Kong Design Institute are invited to create over 100 pieces of visually arresting works of art for this exhibition, all depicting Hong Kong’s manufacturing industry. The final products are in 2D and 3D formats. The 2D works are mounted on make-believe looms, while the 3D creations are based on yarn spools, cardboard boxes and finished garments. The exhibition is jointly presented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department and The Hong Kong Heritage Project.
