8th International Shibori Symposium (ISS)

International Shibori Symposium (ISS) is a biannual symposiums organised by the World Shibori Network (WSN) presided by Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada. Its official programmes, include exhibitions, conferences and workshops, share an ultimate objective to reunite craftsmen, artists, schools, companies and scientists to exchange information and to create a source of inspiration. According to the possibilities of design through applications of technology, including scientific analysis of traditional processes, theme of the symposium this year is TECHNOLOGY SHAPED BY CREATIVITY.

HKDI as the co-organiser of this event will hold an exhibition on “Animal Fibers: Art Informs Shibori” at campus from 13 Dec 2011 to 14 Jan 2012. During the exhibition period, a series of seminars and workshops will be delivered by renowned textile artists, including Makiko Minagawa, Yoshiko I Wada, Michel Garcia and Edith Cheung.
