“BRAiN iT ON! 2013 Student Video Contest” was an important event of the film and media industry in the Greater China. 17 teams of talented young filmmakers from 11 universities in Greater China region were eventually selected. After an intensive competition for over 2 months, 5 teams were selected to proceed to the final round and receive a series of professional training sessions delivered by the organiser, Jebsen Industrial engineers. The HKDI SMPTE Student Chapter team from the Communication Design & Digital Media Department was one of the five and also successfully won the Special Jury’s Award because of its extraordinary talent and filmmaking skills.

This competition offered a platform for knowledge sharing and exchange within the Greater China film and media industry. For students, it is a valuable opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent as well as interact with peers from other regions. The Principal Judge, Professor Gao Hong Ming, highly commended the HKDI team, “Although the other teams are from the students of Master Degrees or University Year 3, HKDI team has delivered an outstanding and remarkable short film which stands out among other teams’ works, in terms of production, post-production and music composition. Therefore, the judging panel unanimously agreed that this Special Jury’s Award should go to the HKDI team. We do look forward to seeing their new film works again.”
