A delegation led by Mr Alexis GEORGACOPOULOS, Director of ECAL/Ecole cantonal d’art de Lausanne, renowned university of art and design in Switzerland, visited the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), member institution of the VTC today (27th February).

Prior to the guided tour, HKDI Principal Mr Leslie LU welcomed the students and staff from ECAL with a brief introduction of HKDI and its latest developments. The ECAL delegation was then drawn to the exhibition Dress Code, hosted by HKDI with a fine selection of Belgian fashion design pieces by renowned designers including the “Antwerp Six”. They also visited some of HKDI’s teaching and learning facilities to include Digital Color Grading Studio, Fashion Archive, Laser Machine Workshop and Rapid Prototyping Workshop. The guided tour provided ECAL students with a general understanding of the dynamic teaching and learning environment at HKDI at a state-of-the-art campus.

After the guided tour, a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony was held between ECAL and HKDI, in pursuit of academic collaboration. The ceremony was held at HKDI’s Design Boulevard, witnessed by Mrs Carrie YAU, VTC Executive Director, Mr Erwin LÜTHI, Deputy Consul-General of Switzerland in Hong Kong, students and staff of ECAL and HKDI. The ceremony was followed by a presentation of ECAL by Mr GEORGACOPOULOS to HKDI students, who learnt not just about ECAL and its academic programmes, but also how ECAL students put their creative ideas into practice to resolve problems in our daily life.
