Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2023
HKDI has succeeded in the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2023 with two projects.
The Centre for Communication Design at HKDI won the award for its project titled "To buy or not to buy: What are the questions? " which was showcased at the PMQ during deTour 2022. This exhibition aimed to challenge visitors' assumptions about packaging design and encourage reflection on its environmental impact.
The second award-winning project, " PostureSense: A New Sensing Device," was developed by the Centre of Innovative Material and Technology at HKDI. This project received the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2023 and the Bronze Award at the Geneva International Invention Exhibition. PostureSense is an innovative wearable sensing system designed to enhance cyclists' performance by monitoring their posture. The system provides real-time feedback to cyclists, helping them optimise their performance, improve balance, increase power, and reduce the risk of injuries.
