Chan Koonchung Public Lecture – “Kungfu, Techne and the Future of Work”

One of the founders of City Magazine and Hong Kong Book Fair’s “Author of the Year (2013)” Chan Koonchung delivered a public lecture at HKDI on 14 October 2014. At the lecture, Chan explored the topics of education, technology and career in the past and the present through an in-depth analysis of the education systems in Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China and the directions of economic development among these regions. Although Chan has been living in Beijing for more than 10 years, he understands the development of Hong Kong very well. Within the one hour lecture, Chan invited the audience to reflect on the past and envision the future of Hong Kong, as well as to explore the meanings for a truly effective education system, a meaningful career and secured income, and the social significance of transferable knowledge and skills in today’s fast-changing world.
