The Department of Digital Media is a creative, dynamic and technologically advanced environment for learning. Multiple aspects of creative production in digital media are covered, including Animation, Film and Television Production, Interactive Media, Music and Audio Technology, Photography, Web and App Development, Visual Effects and Storytelling in a Transmedia Context. Students develop communication and technical skills through a hands-on learning experience, with access to relevant state-of-the-art technology that enables them to become commercially viable and innovative designers.
Admission
Students may choose one of the following streams so as to enhance professional knowledge and skills in specific areas:
• Higher Diploma in Animation and Visual Effects (Character Animation)
• Higher Diploma in Animation and Visual Effects (Visual Effects)
• Higher Diploma in Animation and Visual Effects (Art Direction)
The programme aims to nurture aesthetic and art sense associated with professional knowledge and hands-on skills, with a goal to prepare students to become animation and visual effects professionals. The programme provides training regarding state-of-the-art knowledge of animation, art direction, character design, scene design, visual effects design and storytelling skills, enables students to adapt to new trends for their career development and articulation.
The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic, language and communication training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.
Graduates may articulate to the degree programmes offered by Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi):
• Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Cinematic Arts and Technology
Graduates may apply for admission to relevant degree programmes of local universities:

The integration of arts and technology has become a new trend in arts development and the content creation industries. In response to the foreseen manpower demand of arts tech talents, the programme aims to equip students with artistic sensibility as well as production competence to integrate the latest technologies (such as augmented reality, extended reality, real-time animation, etc.) expanding the possibilities of artistic creation, interactive engagement, immersive experience and game design.
The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic, language and communication training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.

This programme aims to prepare students to become future content creators in the field of multimedia and cross-platform digital entertainment. It will combine the latest generative AI aesthetic techniques, allowing students to learn about art direction, visualization, and the creative process. These techniques will help students confidently choose and create diverse digital media design works.

• Higher Diploma in Music Production (Vocal Performance)
The programme integrates education and training in pop music production. Students have direct access to some of the latest technologies for song singing, composition, arrangement, recording, mixing, and mastering music.
The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic, language and communication training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.
Graduates may pursue relevant degrees locally or overseas.
