Public Engagement Activities
Landscapes in Craft Workshop: The Reimagination of Chinese Landscape
Ma Yansong, one of China’s most influential architects, founder and principal partner of MAD Architects (MAD), offers a glimpse into the future of urban civilization with designs that artistically entwine natural and urban spaces, proffering a vision that rejects the notion of buildings as static structures and instead projects them as organic and vivid art forms, built for human flourishing.
Inspired by Ma Yansong’s approach to landscaping and architecture, HKDI Gallery is hosting a workshop that will explore how natural landscapes become subsumed into our day-to-day lives. Led by Margaret Chu, a local sculptor and painter whose works explore the relationship between humans and urban life, this workshop welcomes attendees to handcraft beautiful everyday accessories that embody the aesthetics and motions of the natural world.
Participants are invited to embark on a journey of discovery and uncover their capabilities for pioneering design, all while crafting a keepsake that beautifully captures the spirit of Ma Yansong’s work.
