HKDI Design Thinking Team
Design is an ‘agent of change’ that mediates between different disciplines to bring positive change. We apply design thinking for solving complex, real life problems in the society beyond the design domain.
Who are we?
We are a team of professional designers and tertiary-level educators dedicated to drive the application of design thinking both within our Institute and outside of it. We provide in-service professional education in design thinking and collaborate on design thinking and innovation projects with organisations from all sectors.
What do we do?
- To strengthen our curriculum with a design thinking mindset and to equip students with user-centred innovation methods
- To provide design thinking training to internal colleagues and external professionals and organizations
- To embark on pedagogical and consultancy projects to establish and disseminate good practices in design thinking
- To advocate for the value and application of design thinking in all disciplines
How might we work together?
With in-house expertise in facilitating the design thinking process as well as a wealth of experience in design disciplines that span across communication, media, architecture, interior design, product design, as well as fashion and image design, we are interested in working with various public- and private-sector organisations in user-centred innovation projects. We are particularly interested in working with organisations that focus on education for all ages as well as public services.

Learning design thinking
In September 2019, we will roll out a suite of professional certificate programmes on design thinking, catering to the needs of various industry sectors including education, user experience design as well as service Innovation. Watch this space for more information about these certificate courses over the next few months.
