Salone Internasionale del Mobile
The reputable Salone Internasionale del Mobile was founded in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian furniture and has now become one of the biggest international celebration of world-class furniture and product design. Eleven outstanding HKDI students from Higher Diploma programmes in Furniture and Lifestyle Product Design, Exhibition Design, Product Design and Visual Communication collaborated to design and produce the solutions for the Co-Senior+ project through a range of furniture and products, and with its own identity of branding and exhibition set up. A collection of designs focused on the physical and cultural issues of intergenerational co-living environment was showcased. For example, Sidekick, which is a cane for the elderly to make it return to the their hands by stepping on it instead of picking it up which could be difficult for old people. The participation was also a valuable learning experience for the students to go to Milan and set up the exhibition by themselves in an international event.
