SPARK 2024: Healthy Futures
The Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) is delighted to participate in the “SPARK 2024: Healthy Futures” organised by the British Council, which aims to investigate the intricate relationships between health, well-being, and the field of fashion through an exhibition and a talk from 18 to 20 October 2024 at Airside, Kai Tak.
The exhibition will feature the works of six distinguished HKDI alumni who graduated from the BA (Hons) Fashion Design Programme, a collaborative effort between HKDI, SHAPE/VTC and Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Under the theme “Fashioning Wellness: A Showcase of Change-making Contemporary Fashion Collections”, the designers will present collections that embody themes such as HEALING, CULTURE, OUTDOOR, SELF-LOVE, ORGANIC, and PLAY. This showcase not only highlights their individual artistic visions but also underscores a commitment to addressing various dimensions of well-being for both social and environmental benefit.
Notable among the designers is Ms Rain Ko, an MA graduate from NTU, whose latest collection exemplifies her comprehensive educational journey from a Higher Diploma to a Master's Degree. We are also proud to feature Mr Tiger Chung and Mr Johnson Chong, both of whom are award-winning designers recognised for their outstanding talent in the Young Designer Contest in 2024 and 2023 respectively. They will showcase their graduate collections, which reflect their cultural and lifestyle aspirations, further enriching the narrative of well-being through fashion.
