HKDI Exhibition at Maison&Objet, Paris
The Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) presented “The Horse and the Other Stories” at Maison&Objet, which was held at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre from 14–19 January 2026. The dedicated installation showcased a collection born of an inspiring international exchange, celebrating craftsmanship, culture, and contemporary design.
The collection featured porcelain animal sculptures co-created with students from the Higher Diploma in Furniture and Lifestyle Product Design programme. Guided by the visiting artist, porcelain and ceramics designer Antonín Tomášek, the participating students—LI Ming-yan, WONG Kai-ho, LUK Wing-ki, NG Ho-yu, WONG Pui-yan, TAM Hong-yau, CHEUNG Po-yee, LAM Hau-yi and LEUNG Mei-yi—thoughtfully fused European ceramic heritage with Asian aesthetics. The works explored the universal symbolism of animals and reflected a considered dialogue between heritage and innovation. The project highlighted the creativity and technical excellence of HKDI students, whose exceptional work was presented on a prominent international stage and met with an enthusiastic response.
The collaboration affirmed HKDI’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent and fostering cross-cultural partnerships that broadened perspectives and inspired new possibilities in design.
