Sewing machine is an important equipment for a fashion designer to create their fashion items. It is essential to have well understanding of basic sewing techniques before starting a fashion design. Fashion designers with skillful sewing techniques can create simple-to-complex fashion designs.

The process of Fashion garment production including pattern development and garment sewn up. Fashion designers should have a general idea about the garment production to have a better communication with garment factory. Fashion design with a sewing skill and mock-up creation technique, that they can made-up the first mock-up sample their own and pass to factory for further production. This can help the fashion factory easier to achieve the fashion style and smoothing the whole fashion production process.

The course will focus on guiding students to achieve the following objectives:

To understand the operation of a sewing machine;
To build up the ability of sewing various of fashion design details;
To develop and improve the pattern drafting techniques; and
To build up the ability in producing a set of production pattern

Upon completion of the 6 hrs workshop, learners are expected to be able to manage the industrial sewing machine and be prepared to take further fashion related courses such as Qipao Tailor-making, Fashion Pattern Design, Fashion Garment Making, Sportswear and Bodywear Design, etc.

Suitable for those who are interested in becoming fashion designers, or interested in fashion industry and fabric sewing.
